The wood itself, Eucalyptus Obliqua, is a disease, insect, fire and drought resistant tree. Therefore when a tree is attacked by any of these assaults, it fights them off but does retain the scars, thus giving it an incredible character. Most notably pin-worm holes, black brush fire marks, chocolate gum veins and pockets, and a very tight grain.
Its color also varies from a medium honey to a cinnamon . . . all these combine to make a floor of incredible character.
